Opportunities for 2024 – Volunteer Opportunities

AVPQ has a new volunteer initiative we are calling the VOC (Volunteer Opportunities Creation). 


We are looking for a range of volunteers in the areas of:

  1. Promotion of workshops – such as creating social media, promotional materials and face-to-face promotion plans
  2. Coordination – ongoing communication with interested organisations, participants, maintaining the contacts list and coordinating on promotions of workshops and tasters,
  3. Maintenance and updates of our website and Facebook site.
  4. Grant writing and research for funding applications.
  5. Organising social events for AVPQ members and community
  6. Participating in our three levels of workshops in 2024.
  7. Your contributions can be short or longer term.
  8. You can dip in and out with opportunities that interest you.
  9. You could provide us your skills and expertise in various areas as well as upskilling your own skills through your involvement and specific support that we can offer.

Join us at 10am on 18 November 2023 at Lotus Place (46 Cleveland St., Stones Corner)for morning tea and an opportunity to meet us and here about our work – obligation-free. 

Stay on to hear our guest speaker at 11am – 12pm  will be Creating spaces for courageous conversations: the importance of voice – Dr Serge Loode  Director PASCIA (Peace and Conflict Studies Institute Australia)

Followed by lunch from 12 – 1pm (bring a plate to share or your own paper bag lunch) and then we will hold our annual AGM to  finish by 2pm.

Alternatives to Violence Project Queensland.

Membership

Alternatives to Violence Project Queensland (AVPQ) invite you to become a member of our community. Everyone who agrees with and supports our objectives can become a member of AVPQ.

The benefits of membership include:

  • Personal development through attendance at workshops (face to face and  online), Community of Practice meetings, and access to AVP resources
  • Opportunities to facilitate workshops (as membership covers insurance)
  • Ability to vote in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and be part of AVPQ’s decision-making.

Annual membership cost:

Waged$30
Unwaged$15
Household (at least 2 Adults)$50

Friends of AVPQ

Individuals or organisations can be Friends of AVPQ  by making a one-off donation to AVPQ to assist AVPQ to meet its objectives. Friends of AVPQ do not vote at the AGM and are not involved in the policy, practice and development of the organisation. If your values align with AVPQ and you wish to make recommendations to AVPQ they will be given due consideration. Friends Of AVPQ receive regular AVPQ newsletters, news about developments and are warmly welcomed at social or networking events.

Please contact us to express your interest in being a Friend of AVPQ and provide us with your contact details. Donations to AVPQ are made by direct deposit into the AVPQ bank account and are greatly appreciated.
